Working from home (a soliloquy)

I wake up. Take a lingering bath as usual.
Make myself some green tea. Sit and write.
I get ready for the day. Dried hair. Warm curlers. Some blush.
Instead of my commute, I put on something acoustic. Perhaps some cello.
Just as I would at the office, I pour myself a carafe of sparkling water.
I open another Google Chrome window-the work one.
Asana. Slack. UberConference. The occasional call.
During lunch I go for a walk around the park. A chance to move my legs. Get some sun.
More work. Checking off the remainder of the day’s tasks. A completed to-do list.
Instead of heading to the gym, I lay out my yoga mat.
I put on my favorite album of the moment. A gentle flow and deep stretch in front of the gold mirror. Yoga, just the way I like it.
My social life is limited to a select few. If we can, we sit on the porch.
Otherwise, a book by the fire. A pot of tea.
Bedtime’s a little earlier, we have to keep our immune systems strong.
The times have changed. So too have the locations. But my rituals haven’t.
I learned long ago, that the ritual is the most important thing.
